Course Title Training Programme on Gender Issues in Labour for Trade Union Leaders/Organisers from Central Trade Unions preferably from Northern India only from March 28-30, 2019 at VVGNLI Campus, NOIDA
Course Aim To address and strengthen the understanding of gender issues in labour market. The programme would acquaint the participants with the various inequalities prevalent in the labour market and also enables them to develop an understanding about the challenges existing in the labour market scenario.
Course Objective The programme is based on these following broad objectives: · To develop a conceptual overview of gender and work. · To address the various inequalities prevalent in the work of work. · To Sensitize the participants about various discriminatory practices prevalent in the world of work · To create awareness about gender and development issues related to work; education, health, violence, developmental policies and programmes, legislative measures etc. · To sensitize the participants to development issues relating to gender and to enhance their capacity to understand, analyse and utilize gender dimensions in development process.
Course Profile Gender dimensions of employment labour market discrimination and inequality, gender and development with specific focus on policy initiatives.
Methodology Classroom lectures, group discussions, case studies and experience sharing
Participation Level Trade Union Leaders/Organisers from Central Trade Unions from Hindi Speaking States preferably from Northern India only. We will appreciate, if participants from reserved categories (SC/ST) are also nominated. ELIGIBILITY 1. Participants should be above 18 years and below 50 years of age; 2. Should be personally engaged at grass root level activities for at least past two years; 3. Should be fluent in either Hindi or English. Note: 1. Please note that those who have attended Institute’s programme earlier are not to be nominated. If so, they shall be immediately sent back and no travel allowance will be reimbursed. 2. Spouse and family members are not allowed to stay in the Institute’s hostel. 3. Participants are requested to book their return ticket in advance from their own place. 4. Under no-circumstance other than IInd class sleeper train fare will be entertained.

Course Aim The structure of the labour force has undergone tremendous change especially during the present decade. From overtime to fixed time to flexible nature of work, nature of work has undergone tremendous change and discussed by policy makers across globe. Especially with entry of young skilled workers, semiskilled and unskilled workforce has being pushed to temporary nature of work which is generally contractual in nature. Even within Government Sector there is tremendous increase in contractual staff in peripheral activities. These concerns have resulted in various dimensions like increased working hours, no social security benefits for contractual labour. Within these emergency concerns this programme has been announced for addressing mentioned concerns within the holistic frame work.
Course Objective In line with the above scenario, the programme on labour laws reforms with focus on contract labour management attempts to: · Confer the overall structure of labour laws. · Concentrate on the emerging issues pertaining to Contract Labour and Management. · Familiarize the participant about existing Social Security provisions · Scrutinize the gender dimensions of Contract Labour and Management. · Study the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Amendment Bill 2017.
Methodology Case Studies; Role Play; Managerial Games; Group Work; Lecture and Instrument use. On the whole, the programme will be participative in nature.
