Course Title International Training Programme on Health Security and Protection of Workers
Course Aim The changing job patterns and working relationships, the rise in self employment, greater sub-contracting, outsourcing of work, homework and the increasing number of employees working away from their establishment, pose problems of occupational safety and health risks at workplaces. New safety hazards and health risks have appeared along with the transfer and adoption of new technologies. Along with this, the lack of health insurance for workers in the informal economy, pose a double burden of health care expenditure. The programme therefore aims to address these issues and the need for social inclusion in order to boost human capital and productivity. It would enable participants to understand the international standards and existing legal instruments as well as some global best practices in order to promote workers’ rights, based on a model of social justice in the area of health protection and security.
Course Objective To provide an overview of Social Protection Policies that are critical in realizing the human rights for all, thereby boosting human capital and productivity. To develop insight on the existing legal instruments on Social Protection of workers and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) protection. To analyses trends and recent policies on health protection and security. To share best practices of countries in developing occupational safety nets in the changing world of work with new forms of workplace practices.

Course Aim Recent years the wage code and the wage rules have introduced several aspects of reform related to the minimum wage, payment of wages and equal remuneration system of the country. Hence, it is important to understand the changes in the wage code and its implications on workers and businesses.
Course Objective The major objectives of the course will be to: Provide an overview and key reform measures undertaken in the Code on Wages, 2019, contrasting them with provisions of the existing four wage related regulations; Provide an overview and key reform measures undertaken in the Code on Wages (Central) Rule 2020; Triangulate reform measures in Wage Code and Wage Rules with international standards and best practices; Share possible Implications of the Wage Code and Wage Rules on workers and businesses; and Stimulate exchange of views and experiences among participants.
