Interim Review of ILO’s Decent Work Country Programme Implementation and Planning for the Biennium 2020-21 was held at VVGNLI on January 23, 2020. Smt. Anuradha Prasad, Additional Secretary, MoLE chaired the meeting. Mr Moussa Oumarou, Deputy Director General, ILO, Shri R.K. Gupta, Joint Secretary, MoLE, Dr H. Srinivas, Director General, VVGNLI and Ms Dagmar Walter, Director, ILO DWT for South Asia and Country Office for India addressed the meeting. The meeting was attended by nearly 70 senior functionaries representing the government, trade unions, employers’ organization, ILO, and VVGNLI.
The institute conducted a one day training programme on ‘Labour and Gender Issues’ on 20th December 2019 at VVGNLI, as part of the ongoing 73rd Term Regular Course on “Official Statistics and related Methodology” organized by National Statistical Services Training Academy (NSSTA) and International Statistical Education Centre (ISEC). The programme was attended by fifteen participants from ten countries. The programme was inaugurated by Dr H. Srinivas, Director General, VVGNLI and coordinated by Dr. Ellina Samantroy Jena, Fellow.
VVGNLI is organising an International Training Programme on ‘Gender Issues in the World of Work” during December 02-20, 2019 at the Institute’s Campus under the aegis of ITEC Scheme of the Ministry of External Affairs, GoI. The Programme was inaugurated by Dr. H. Srinivas, Director General, VVGNLI. Twenty Eight participants from 27 countries are participating in this Training Programme.
VVGNLI organised a workshop on “Impact on Employment of the Maternity Benefit Amendment Act, 2017: Identifying the Affirmative Initiative & Challenges in the Implementation of the Act” on 22nd November, 2019. Dr. H. Srinivas, Director General, VVGNLI addressed the participants on this occasion. Shri Rajan Verma, Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), MoL&E Govt. of India delivered opening remarks in the workshop, Prof. Surendra Nath, IAS (Retd.) chaired the presentations and discussions.
VVGNLI is organizing a training programme on “Labour Laws and Trade Unionism” for officers of the Indian Navy during 11-16 November 2019 at its campus. The programme was inaugurated by Cap. Sunil Kumar, Capt (CP) – Training, Directorate of Civilian Personnel, Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defense, New Delhi. The programme is being attended by 23 Naval Officers.
The V. V. Giri National Labour Institute conducted a one day Orientation Programme on Labour Employment Issues for the 70th batch of 52 IRS (C&CE) Officers on November 5, 2019. The Programme was inaugurated by Ms. Vibha Bhalla, IRS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, GOI. Dr. H. Srinivas, IRPS, Director General of the Institute presided over the session and delivered valedictory session.
