The changing job patterns and working relationships, the rise in self employment, greater sub-contracting, outsourcing of work, homework and the increasing number of employees working away from their establishment, pose problems of occupational safety and health risks at workplaces. New safety hazards and health risks have appeared along with the transfer and adoption of new technologies. Along with this, the lack of health insurance for workers in the informal economy, pose a double burden of health care expenditure. The programme therefore aims to address these issues and the need for social inclusion in order to boost human capital and productivity. It would enable participants to understand the international standards and existing legal instruments as well as some global best practices in order to promote workers’ rights, based on a model of social justice in the area of health protection and security.

The course aims to provide a structural analysis of the complex relationships between informality, gendered relations of power and poverty. It also provides researchers with an enhanced understanding of qualitative and quantitative methods on gender, poverty and the informal economy. This course will be an opportunity to discuss and debate on the ongoing issues in conceptualizing and measuring poverty, women empowerment and gender.

This programme seeks to create awareness andbuild knowledge of the participants on specific schemesrelating to providing legal services to poor, marginalised, weaker sections of the society, including assistance in applying for schemes towards reducing their vulnerability to labour exploitation.

The programme aims to acquaint the young participants from different universities with the knowledge, importance and prospects of skill development in enhancing employability and entrepreneurship of youth. After completion of master degree course they are supposed to take up different career options this programme will enrich their understanding of skill development, enhance their capabilities and enable them to play larger role for the skill development of youth of the nation.
