The programme aims at empowering Rural Organizers from Central Trade Unions

To familiarize young students with various Labour Issues and their capacities to contribute
in their academic and professional pursuits.

The aim of the programme is to enhance leadership skills of trade union activists
from North-Eastern States.

Employment, in its quantitative and more pertinently in its qualitative aspects, is one of the
central concerns of public policy. While employment creation remains a crucial long term
policy goal, it is now emerging as one of the most important policy instruments for tackling
economic slowdown. Employment is not only a macroeconomic phenomena – its
importance and social and individual level is far greater. Employment remains the foremost
means for providing social security and tackling insecurities at the individual level. It is in
this context that this programme addresses various dimensions related to generation of
quality employment as a means to achieve the national goal of sustainable and inclusive
growth.

The programme aims at putting increasing emphasis on enhancing the skills of workers in
general and women workers in particular for enhancing employability and to facilitate for
decent employment

The programme aims at equipping the participants with the context of labour
legislation and recent Labour jurisprudence.

Generating more and better quality of employment is a common challenge faced by
the countries world over. The challenge is more pronounced in case of developing
countries with large informal economy and with high annual entrance to the workforce. To
face these challenges, governments are putting increasing emphasis on enhancing the
skills of its people in general and that of workers in particular to increase their employability
and to facilitate them to get decent employment.
